Final Expense Insurance in Arlington, TX

Final expense insurance pays for what comes at the end of life: the service, burial or cremation, and the bills that tend to follow. We help you choose an amount and a monthly premium that fit your budget today, so the people you leave behind aren't stuck covering the cost.

What final expense coverage does, and who it fits

A final expense policy is a type of whole life insurance with a smaller face amount than most families buy for income replacement. The premium usually stays level, the coverage doesn't expire at a set age, and the money goes to the beneficiary you name. They can spend it on the service, a headstone, a last hospital bill or anything else that comes due.

It tends to fit clients in their 50s through their 80s who don't need a large policy but don't want to leave a funeral bill behind. Instead of a nurse visit and bloodwork, many plans decide eligibility from a brief health questionnaire. That makes this a practical option for people who were turned down for, or priced out of, larger coverage.

Buying it while you're healthy and unhurried is the whole point. Rates are based on your age when you apply, so each year you wait the same coverage costs a bit more, and a new diagnosis can change which plans you qualify for.

What we help you set up

A realistic coverage amount

We begin with what you expect to spend: the kind of service, burial or cremation, a plot if you don't have one, and any medical or credit card balances you'd prefer not to leave behind. We size the policy to that figure rather than rounding up.

Plan types compared

Simplified issue plans ask a handful of health questions. Guaranteed acceptance plans ask none, but they withhold the full benefit during the early part of the policy. Your answers usually tell us which kind you'll likely qualify for.

A premium your fixed income can carry

If payments stop, the coverage lapses, so the premium matters as much as the benefit. We review your Social Security, pension or other steady income and choose an amount you can keep paying for years, not just months.

Beneficiaries set up with care

We review who gets the money, who the backup is and how to word it so the right person can file a claim without delays.

Records your family can locate

We help you note the insurer, policy number and where the papers are kept, so whoever makes the arrangements knows the policy exists.

Signs it's time to put final expense coverage in place

Nothing set aside for a funeral
If the plan is that the kids will figure it out, a small policy turns that into a known amount instead of a surprise bill.
An older policy has run out
Term life bought at 40 often ends in your 60s. If that coverage is gone, final expense insurance can fill the gap at a smaller size.
Health questions worry you
If you've been declined before or have a condition that complicates underwriting, there are plans built for that. It pays to apply before anything else changes.
You'd rather choose than leave it to others
Setting the amount now lets you decide on the kind of service you want and keeps your family from guessing.
Your savings already has a job
If what you've saved is earmarked for living costs, a dedicated policy keeps funeral money separate from the money you live on.

How it works from first call to active policy

  1. 1

A conversation about what you want covered

On the phone we ask about your age, the kind of arrangements you have in mind and what you can comfortably pay each month. No paperwork yet.

  2. 2

    Options laid out plainly

We walk through a few plans with the coverage amount, the monthly premium and any waiting period spelled out, so you can compare them on equal terms.

  3. 3

    The application and health questions

Most applications take a short conversation and a handful of yes-or-no health questions. We read each question with you, because an accurate answer now protects the claim later.

  4. 4

    Policy delivered and reviewed

Once the insurer approves it, we go through the policy with you, confirm the beneficiary and premium date, and make sure someone you trust knows where it is kept.

What sets the price of a final expense policy

Final expense insurance has no one-size price, since a few personal details set the premium. We review each with you before you apply so the figure you hear stays accurate. Nothing is binding until you sign.

Age when the policy is issued
Your rate is based on your age on the issue date, and with most plans it doesn't change after that. Starting at 62 costs less per month than starting at 67 for the same face amount.
Health and tobacco
Your health answers determine whether you qualify for a plan that pays the full benefit right away or one with a waiting period. On most plans, tobacco use raises the rate.
How much coverage
A policy meant for a simple cremation costs less than one covering a full burial, a plot and remaining bills. We help you choose an amount that fits your real plans.
Kind of plan
Guaranteed acceptance plans cost more for the same coverage since the insurer asks no health questions. If you qualify for simplified issue, it's often the better buy.

Final expense questions we hear often

Is a medical exam required?
Usually not. Most final expense applications use a short health questionnaire, and guaranteed acceptance plans skip health questions entirely. The tradeoff with those plans is a waiting period, often about two years, before the full benefit is paid for a death from natural causes.
How does this compare with prepaying a funeral home?
A preneed contract pays one particular provider for particular goods and services. A final expense policy pays your beneficiary, who can pick the provider and put any leftover money toward other bills. Some people have both, and we can help you sort out which suits your plans.
Will my premium go up as I age?
Typically no. Most final expense plans lock in the premium when the policy is issued, and it stays the same as long as the coverage is kept paid. Before you apply, we point out where that's stated in any plan we show you.
Whom can I name as my beneficiary?
A spouse, adult child, other relative, friend or your estate. Many clients name whoever will handle the arrangements, along with a backup in case that person dies first.
Are final expense and whole life the same thing?
Final expense is a smaller, simpler version of whole life. For larger permanent coverage or cash value growth, see our Whole Life Insurance page. For larger income protection over a fixed number of years, see Term Life Insurance.
Can you help clients outside Arlington?
Yes. We work with clients throughout Arlington and nearby towns like Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Euless and Bedford. Most of the work is done by phone, so distance is rarely an issue.
